How are music plays counted?
A click is not automatically a counted play
NoyzHub does not count a track as soon as the play button is selected. The player first measures real listening time before sending a validation request.
The validation threshold
Under the current system, a play can be validated when either of these conditions is met:
- at least 15 seconds of the track have been heard;
- at least 35% of its duration has been heard.
The percentage rule also allows very short tracks to be considered appropriately.
The furthest listening position
The player keeps the highest playback position reached. Immediately skipping to another track or stopping very quickly is therefore not always enough to validate a play.
Limit closely repeated plays
For a signed-in member, NoyzHub does not count the same user-and-track combination again when a validated play already exists within the previous thirty minutes.
The attempt may still be stored for technical analysis, but the public track counter does not increase a second time during that period.
Protection for unauthenticated contexts
In technical contexts where an unauthenticated play can be received, NoyzHub uses hashed connection and browser fingerprints to reduce duplicates without storing those identifiers in raw form in the play event.
What information accompanies a play?
The system may record the track, artist page, listened time, total duration, completion rate and discovery context, such as search, feed or playlist.
When available, a country code may also be connected to the play for geographical statistics.
When does the track counter increase?
The general counter only increases when a play meets the threshold and passes the duplicate check. Popular rankings then use this counter or validated play events depending on the relevant chart.
Monthly Top counting
The monthly Top only uses events marked as counted during the relevant month. Plays rejected by the duplicate control are not included.
Counting during Music Awards
When a track is entered in an open Music Awards edition, a validated play can also increase its contest counter only during the official period and while the entry is active.
The specific rules of each edition always take priority and may change.
Why might playback not change the counter?
Common reasons include:
- the listening time was too short;
- the same track was played again inside the duplicate-control period;
- the track was disabled;
- playback stopped before validation was sent;
- a temporary connection problem occurred.
Avoid artificial plays
Repeated refreshing, automated loops, bots and artificial-traffic services do not represent a real audience and may be neutralized by NoyzHub controls.
To support an artist, listen naturally, follow the page and share the official link with people who may genuinely enjoy the music.
