Add a biography
Where do you add the biography?
Open your artist page editor and go to Information. The form contains two separate fields: the short description and the biography.
Save the form to publish the changes on the page.
Short description and biography
The short description is limited to 240 characters. It should introduce the project in one or two immediately understandable sentences.
The biography provides a fuller presentation and may explain:
- where the project began;
- the members or lineup;
- genres and influences;
- important stages in its history;
- notable releases and concerts;
- current activity.
Start with essential information
The opening lines should explain who you are, what kind of music you make and where the project comes from.
Avoid a long general introduction. Visitors should quickly identify the name, style and current situation of the artist or band.
Write reliable information
Use verifiable facts and do not present awards, collaborations or audiences as confirmed when they are not.
A professional biography can be straightforward. Exaggerated claims are not required to make a project interesting.
Structure the biography
Use several short paragraphs:
- current project presentation;
- origin and formation;
- musical development;
- important releases, concerts or news;
- the project’s next step.
Keep it updated
Edit the text when the lineup changes, a new release becomes important or the project develops in a new direction.
A biography that still describes an old album as an upcoming release quickly looks abandoned.
