DETHSCEND is a funeral sludge metal band from Lille, France, formed in 2023. Combining the crushing weight of doom and sludge metal with grindcore intensity and blackened influences, the band develops a slow, oppressive and abrasive sound built around massive riffs, extreme vocals and a dark, suffocating atmosphere.

The project was founded by Cédric on guitar, vocals and songwriting, before expanding with Matthieu on guitar, Julien on bass and Tom on drums. Together, the four musicians shape DETHSCEND's sound around heaviness, repetition and raw emotion, drawing inspiration from the most extreme sides of sludge, doom and underground metal.

Influenced by bands such as Primitive Man, Body Void, Absent In Body and Black Tomb, DETHSCEND aims to create music that feels both physically crushing and deeply atmospheric, moving between slow funeral passages and more violent, chaotic sections.

Based in Lille in northern France, the band is currently developing its live activity while preparing its debut album, with recording scheduled to begin in 2026. DETHSCEND continues to work on new material and live performances, pushing its blend of funeral sludge, doom, grindcore and blackened extreme metal further into darker and heavier territory.
